Tormenting helpless creatures has never seemed a very humane thing to do, and is in fact something I would usually frown upon. However, I have to admit, that whenever I flick one of those damned annoying Asian beetles hard enough to hear it bounce off the wall on the other side of the room, I get a little thrill of satisfaction.

You know what would be awesome? Instead of getting a snake, sniffing around for a foreign lizard or frog or something that could be a natural predator to those damned Asian lady beetles. Set the whatever it is up in a nice terrarium, get some real plants in there, and I would be all set because I would never, ever have to buy any food for it! ( Read more... )

I gave up trying to squish all the Japanese Beetles I missed (and there is no way I missed 20+ of them - they gotta be coming in a crack from somewhere) and started catching them in a plastic sandwich bag. Suffocate the suckers without having to deal with their nasty smell. Works for me.

Hopefully I just sucked up the majority (if not all, but I'm sure that *is* too much to hope for) of Japanese Beetles that were invading my room. It was very satisfying ( Read more... )

I am trapping the wealth of asian beetles that have been buzzing around my room in an empty beef jerky bag where they will suffocate slowly until I toss them out when I've captured every last one of them that I can find. Die, Asian beetles, die!

There was one of those Japanese Beetles floating in my water. I fished it out and drank the water anyway. If I die of some horrible disease found only in Japan (or China or wherever those beetles were imported from), we will know why ( Read more... )
